Join us for a night out at the museum this spring.

Vaughan Homestead invites the public to step inside history for an evening that is both engaging and social. The upcoming program, “Women of Vaughan Homestead,” will transform the historic house museum into a series of storytelling spaces where visitors can explore the lives of remarkable women connected to the Vaughan family. Moving from room to room, guests will encounter interpreters sharing the stories of women who lived at the Homestead or corresponded with its residents, bringing their experiences and accomplishments into focus.

Each room of the historic home will highlight a different woman whose life reflects the wide-ranging pursuits and talents found within the Vaughan circle. Visitors may learn about artists, educators, and adventurous outdoorswomen whose interests and friendships stretched well beyond Hallowell. Interpreters stationed throughout the house will introduce these figures, sharing insights drawn from letters, records, and other historical sources.

Rather than a traditional lecture, the program is designed as an informal, interactive tour. Guests can explore the home at their own pace, stopping in each room to hear a new story, ask questions, and learn more about the networks of friendship, creativity, and intellectual exchange that connected these women across time and place.

The evening will also include light refreshments, making it an ideal opportunity for a relaxed and memorable night out at the museum. Whether visitors are history enthusiasts, longtime supporters of the Homestead, or simply looking for a unique local outing, “Women of Vaughan Homestead” offers a welcoming way to experience the stories of the women who shaped the world around both the Homestead and our fair City.
