Join us for our first annual interactive day of sharing and learning about the successes and challenges of historic preservation at sites such as Vaughan Homestead. The day is designed to bring together local students, preservation professionals, historic home owners, and employees of regional historic sites.

There will be two 1-hour presentations/demonstrations in the morning. One session will focus on preservation of the NATURAL features surrounding historic sites, and the other will be focused on the BUILT elements. Coffee and refreshments will be provided and a lunch will be served mid-day. In the afternoon, Vaughan Homestead staff and volunteers will arrange stations throughout the grounds and within various buildings. Demonstrations and exhibits at the stations will provide starting points for discussing issues related to preservation of collections, buildings and grounds. These afternoon stations may include, but are not limited to “Caring For The Homestead’s Heritage Apple Trees,” “Maintaining A Colonial Revival Flower Garden, “Preserved Artworks,” “Windows, Wallpapers & Woodwork,” etc..

Presenter:

John Leeke is a nationally recognized preservation trades specialist and educator.
